Update 1: Search continues for man missing in the Daintree
Police continue to coordinate a search for missing 29-year-old Victorian man Milan Lemic, who was last seen next to a bogged vehicle, near the Daintree River at Bairds Crossing, Upper Daintree Village at around 4.30pm on December 22.
A local man attended Bairds Crossing a short time later with a tractor and pulled the vehicle out however Mr Lemic was no longer with his black utility.
Local residents conducted searches for Mr Lemic and after failing to locate him contacted police.
Mr Lemic, who was visiting the area from his home in Victoria, has no known links to the Daintree area and has not contacted family or friends, nor been seen since 4.30pm on Sunday (22nd.
Extensive air and land searches, involving police and SES on foot and in vehicles of the river banks and bushland, as well as aerial searches using Rescue 510 have been conducted without any signs of Mr Lemic.
Searches of the river using drones and boats have also been conducted.
Police have also searched buildings and sheds in the vicinity, as well as asking locals to check their properties.
Police are also asking if anyone picked up a hitch hiker in the remote Daintree location to immediately contact them.
Today’s searches (December 26 included police and SES conducting foot and vehicle patrols, as well as drone searches of the river.
Police will re-attend the scene tomorrow.
Queensland police have remained in daily contact with Mr Lemic’s family.
Mr Lemic is described as Caucasian, approximately 191cm tall, with a proportionate build and black hair.
He was last seen wearing a bright fluro singlet, black gym shirt with white writing on it, black tracksuit pants, no shoes and no hat.
