We Are So on Board with Andy Allen and Ben Milbourne’s Friendship on MasterChef
There are a few links between the new judges and the contestants on MasterChef: Back to Win. It makes sense — Andy Allen came to public life by winning the fourth season of the show.
During that fourth season, he became great mates with Ben Milbourne, who placed fifth. Together, they went on to host two SBS cooking shows, Andy and Ben Eat the World in 2015, and Andy and Ben Eat Australia in 2017, and even started their own TV production company.
It was hard to ignore how thrilled they were to see each other on the Back to Win premiere.
“The weirdest thing is that Andy is standing up there, and not next to me,” Ben reflected. “Andy and I have been in lockstep since season four. He’s my best mate. He reminds me constantly that he won, so it’d be nice to be able to say, ‘Look, well, I won as well, mate, so you can just pipe down.'”
They gushed to each other about how they’d been cooking together for eight years now. Ben noted that Andy would know if he didn’t bring his A-game, because he knows exactly what level of cooking he’s capable of. “I’m so proud of you,” Ben said. “I can’t believe you’re standing there.” Andy responded in kind: “I’m proud of you too.”
“We’ve been open and honest with each other from the moment we met,” Ben mused to camera. “The Andy connection that came out of season four is probably the most memorable thing for me.” He teared up as he continued, “To see him take his place as a judge, it’s an emotional feeling . . .”
We love this friendship! We’ve pulled together some pictures of the guys supporting each other.
