SAS Australia Fans Were Unimpressed That Candice Warner Culled From the Course Last Night
Fans were disappointed to see former ironwoman Candice Warner sent home from SAS Australia last night.
Candice struggled a little through yesterday’s challenges, an under-ice submerge task where she was expected to recite a license plate as her body succumbed to shock, and a trek for three hours and 10 kilometres across snow while pulling a 40 kilogram gear sled.
The Directing Staff commented that she was “not pushing herself” and that she “didn’t want to be here” between the challenges. The second part of the comment probably harked back to her emotional reaction to seeing her kids last week.
Chief Instructor Ant Middleton explained to camera that it was possible to finish the course and still be culled, because the selection process is about someone’s suitability to fight as part of a team in a war zone — and nothing else. But he called the axed recruits “weak” in the parade square as he told them some people would be going home immediately. “You’ve shown weakness in certain areas, we can’t afford that,” Ant explained after he called her number.
“I gave it everything,” Candice told the other recruits proudly as they said goodbye.
Talking to her husband, cricketer David Warner after she was eliminated, Candice said, “Realistically, today was my limit, it was tough. You would be so surprised at some of the stuff I’ve done, it’s been unbelievable. Even though I’m upset, I’m kind of relieved at the same time that it’s over.”
“I’m really proud of you anyway regardless,” David beamed as Candice teared up.
Everyone agreed that Candice could leave the course proud, having proven that she’s just as “tough and strong” as her cricketer husband. They commended the way she was always supportive and kind to the other recruits.
Candice certainly showed over the season the harmful impact widespread slut-shaming and criticisms of her as a parent had on her and her family, reminding us all to be a bit kinder.
Don’t underestimate Candice Warner!
