Tonight Harry and Elly Agreed He Should Leave The Bachelorette to Go Be With His Son
Tonight’s episode of The Bachelorette saw Harry choose to leave the mansion because he realised he didn’t have a shot with Elly and he really missed his five-year-old son, Xavier.
Early in the episode, Harry said he’d “scraped” through at the last rose ceremony and acknowledged his early connection with Elly hadn’t “blossomed” the way he had hoped. “I had the country rose but I’m really worried that the ship might have sailed,” he said.
So he approached Elly at the cocktail party to suss out where he stood with her, fearing that their opportunity to make a connection had already passed and admitting that being apart from Xavier was taking its toll.
He told Elly he wanted to spend more time with her, but recognised she needed to explore connections with all of the men there. But he stressed he had more “on the line” than the other, childless men. “I’ve been pretty flat for probably a week and a half,” he said. “I’m missing my son massively. It’s been tough.”
“I don’t want to waste your time at the end of the day,” Elly said. “I’d feel really guilty if you were to stay here, because I don’t know if I have or if I’m going to get that romantic connection with you.”
“We’ve missed the spark,” Harry admitted. “But, for me, I think it’s time for me to go home to my boy.”
While Harry made an immediate impression on Elly and Becky with his charm on night one, winning the country rose, his connection with Elly floundered on the date. Elly said that they had very different timelines for the future, as she wanted to go travelling and do normal 25-year-old things, while he, at 35, was looking to move to the east coast and settle down.
It’s so refreshing to see Harry find the strength to leave when he needed to, and for Elly to be so forthright about how she was feeling.
