The Voice Contestant Lau Abend Was Inspired to Audition After a Near-Death Experience
The premiere of The Voice is creeping closer, and as we brush the dust off our microphones and prepare our vocal cords, it’s time to get to know the talented individuals competing this year.
First up is Lau Abend, who has an extraordinary story.
The 21-year-old discovered her love of music while stranded in the middle of the sea with her family after being left behind on a scuba diving trip.
“I sang to keep the morale up when we were floating. Music definitely gives me hope,” she said.
With reef sharks circling them from below, Laura made a promise to herself during her darkest moment.
“If I’m going to survive today, I’m going to make music my career.”
She was 16 at the time, and now, five years later, Lau is brushing off the nerves and stepping onto the stage of The Voice in the hopes to make her dream come true.
Whether that happens is yet to be seen, but the only way to find out is to tune in.
The Voicepremieres at 7pm Sunday, August 8 on ChannelSevenand7plus.
