ANY PASSPORT MISHAPS? I lost my passport two days before heading to London. It resulted in a very expensive trip to get another one!

I GOT MY FIRST PASSPORT when I was 20 in 2007.

MY PASSPORT PHOTO IS terrible. I blame the lighting.

I CAN’T STOP GOING BACK TO India. The food, the people, the heat, the yoga.

MY LAST TRAVEL DESTINATION WAS Oxford in Britain for a couple of weeks to see my boyfriend.

MY NEXT TRAVEL DESTINATION IS Los Angeles for the Oscars.

I’M REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO seeing the beautiful people up close and going to all of the places I’ve only seen in movies.

WHAT I REALLY WANT FROM MY NEXT TRIP IS to see LA in full flight – all of the most important people in the business and the people who want to be the most important. I’m fascinated by LA because so many people in the city put the rest of their lives on hold to chase their dreams (however shallow) and I think there’s something truly romantic about that.

I LOVE TO TRAVEL BECAUSE it’s one of the only times my weird incredibly early wake-up time comes in handy (for jet lag) and I really, really love trying new food.

MY TRAVEL PHILOSOPHY IS not to pack too many things in. I like to stay in a city for a decent period so you get a taste for what it’s like to live there rather than lose time travelling between places trying to tick cities off a bucket list.

THE ONE TRAVEL MISTAKE I ALWAYS MAKE IS packing things I’ll never wear and packing my suitcase so I can hardly carry it. I always think I’ll be more fashion-forward or brave on holidays but I end up wearing the same old linen shirts and jeans.

THE ONE THING I REALLY DO GET RIGHT WHEN I TRAVEL IS sleeping on planes. I’ve got it down to an art. It involved a lot of research and trial and error but I’ve got a whole system now with a special neck pillow and foot hammock.

IF I HAD TO SIT IN THE MIDDLE SEAT THE OTHER PASSENGERS I’D WANT ON EITHER SIDE OF ME WOULD BE Oprah and David Attenborough. My hearing is terrible from years of wearing headphones for radio and TV news, so it would be a strained conversation but Oprah because she has the most incredible way of thinking about the world and she’s incredibly resilient, and Attenborough because, well, he’s Attenborough!

THE ONE FAMOUS TRAVELLER I REALLY ADMIRE IS Kate Moss. Once I saw her at Heathrow and she had the look down pat. An oversized leather tote to fit everything in and jeans and a shirt for comfort. I leave a plane looking like I’ve fallen backwards through a hedge and she somehow emerges looking like she’s had a full eight hours.

THE ONE FAMOUS PERSON I’D LIKE TO TRAVEL WITH IS someone funny like [comedian and comedy actor] Stephen Merchant. Having a nice meal and belly laugh are probably my two favourite things to do so I reckon he’d be an excellent travel companion.

AIRLINE FOOD IS the best. I wish every meal came with a buttered bread roll to mop up the sauce and a little chocolate at the end.

AIRPORT SECURITY IS actually not so bad.

HOTELS ARE room service

I’VE ALWAYS WANTED TO GO TO the Middle East because I am a huge fan of Middle Eastern food particularly hummus – the more garlic the better!

I’VE NEVER WANTED TO GO TO India, but then I went, and I loved it. Never rule out anything.

AISLE OR WINDOW? Aisle – always – unless you travel with someone you know where you can climb over them to use the facilities.
